I'm going to teach my children Spanish through books, tv shows, and music. As well as with colors, numbers, days of the week, etc. I will have this exposure during infancy and toddler age.
I'm going to try to re-learn how to speak Spanish. I took 4 years worth but it's buried deep. My life partner wants to learn how to speak it so we'll see.
Now as far as Swahili or any other African language... I want them to know the sounds. Cause it really has a beautiful rhythm to the sounds of the words.
So songs for sure as I have a lullaby in Swahili. Books and coloring books I have found. Kwanzaa is a whole ass lesson. (Also their names will be Swahili, another African language, or Arabic)
I want them to grow up with English, Spanish, Swahili, and Guyanese Creole.
I will encourage to learn in school Mandarin or Arabic, but that's their choice.
Learning different languages especially when children's brains are like sponges not only helps with brain development, but it also gives them a wider perspective on the world solely because there are different sounds, grammatical rules, and word association.
And it's harder to learn a different language when your brain is set to one. (Even how your tongue moves to make sounds)
